For some reason, Monday is the most hated day of the week. It is most likely because of one of the following reasons:
1) You’re not ready to give up the Saturday Turn up.
2) You would like more time to sleep or get over an illness.
3) You hate the job you are going into on Monday.
Today we are going to focus on reason three.
If you are not happy going into your Mondays, it’s time to ask yourself “why is that?” If you know that every week Monday will come around and every week you will feel miserable, What is causing this feeling? How can you get out of this funk? It’s tough to ask ourselves hard questions such as these but it is necessary.
Let’s use the example of continuing education. Kanye said it best, “that major that you majored in don’t make no money”. You invested all your resources and time to get an education in a field you thought you enjoyed. You graduate and you no longer have an interest in that field or you can not obtain a job in your field with your current level of degree. So you take a job, any job that requires a bachelor’s degree. That is the most sensible thing to do. You need to eat and you need to provide for your family. You are miserable every day. You decide to go back to school and major in something that will get you a lucrative job.
Going back to school is a wonderful idea and it never hurts to learn more. The issue with this concept is that the end goal is just a job and money. If that is what you are after then your true potential and happiness will not be obtained. If you know that you are not happy currently doing what you are doing then change it.
Naysayers will say “it’s not that simple, it’s not that easy”. That’s true, it will not be easy at all. It’s going to be challenging and hard because that is exactly what change is. Change is difficult because it requires that we let go of our comfort zones. If you are OK with remaining stagnant then by all means don’t change. If you are not and you are ready to live a life filled with accomplishments then please continue reading.
Here is some food for thought:
1) Have faith in your Queendom/Kingdom.
If you put GOD first in every endeavor, there will always be a way for you. You may be tested along the way, I don’t know what your individual tests will be because GOD knows best but please have patience. Have faith in your journey. GOD will never send you the wrong way. Find what you are innately good at and enjoy doing. If you are in a career just for the funds you will wake up every Monday hating what you do, making a ton of money and not being able to use it.
2. Fund your mind not your wallets
We have heard this over and over again, money does not = happiness. But why not? Money is great. Money is needed to provide a better life for our families and to support ourselves. Money can buy us things, pay for trips, pay for a fancy car and house. That sounds like the life. So why isn’t this the obvious choice that will lead to happiness. Simple, money burns. Money is of this Earth and it can be destroyed. It can be deleted with a click of a button. When it is gone, there goes your goal, there goes your happiness. We are sad and maybe even depressed once we lose it. This is why we should reach for goals that are less quantitative and more qualitative.
Search for methods to build a career that will fund your mind not just your wallets. Once you have acquired these skills and the knowledge, no one can take that away from you. You can find solace and happiness in the fact that you have earned knowledge that many people do not have. GOD forbid you lose your empire, you can rebuild and the money will come back to you.
3. Listen to your calling.
Someone, a.k.a Chantel J recently gave me some great advice. Find your lane and stay in it. Once you find it, your lane will never deceive you. This is something that you are innately good at. If you think you need to go back to school to do this, make the necessary steps it takes to do that. Don’t worry about where the money will come from to go. Continue to have faith. Continue to put your effort into researching what it will take to make you successful and happy. #Shameless plug be on the look out for Chantel J’s #QueenOfTheCity interview soon! 4. Invest in yourself
If you happen to have a job that allows you to have cushion money, invest that money in yourself. Create a space in your budget that you can use for your goals. If you don’t believe in your dreams, how can you expect investors to? No one is stopping you other than yourself. We have to take charge of our own happiness.
No one is going to hand it to you. It is imperative that you pray, work hard to make the necessary changes and then pray again. Yes, there are certain aspects of our lives that can only be adjusted by Divine Intervention. We have to have faith and take the lessons and hurdles in our lives as constructive criticism. Change is a transition into something new. If you can push yourself past the transition period, you will have defeated #MondayWoes.
Go out there and kick Monday’s butt!
